I'm currently the slave of a MSI K7n2g, which isn't all that bad, but not that great either.

Basically, I'm looking for new MOBO for my
Athlon 2500+
Seagate SATA hd's (striped)
2700 DDR RAM

oh yeah, it's got to be compatible with Mandrake 9.2 as well. My K7n2g isn't.

In addition, I'm hoping to keep it simple (the MOBO) and I really don't see the point of integrated graphics and sound like my current board has, since I be use sound and graphics cards. Extra USB 2.0 and fan headers are a plus. Thanks for any input.

I don't think it's easy to find a motherboard without some kind of integrated sound package these days. If I was you I'd look into an Abit NF7-S Rev 2.0, they are super fast, stable, and now CHEAP.
