looking for text software for scanner

Ive got an HP scanner and need some type of software to scan documents and keep them the way they scan. My option on HP is to save in a notepad or word pad. If I save into word pad, it keeps the text but not the format. Anyone know of software (pref. freeware but if I have to pay its ok too) that I can download to scan documents into a word document and they stay the way they are scanned.

I am not sure about your scanning software that you are using for that function, but did the scanner come with some type of OCR software? If so, what is its name and version?

Omni makes a OCR program

I prefer Pagis Pro..it uses Textbridge pro....
