If budget is primary concern, you can build the base and get a sheet of stainless to slap on top. Get a a 90 degree fold, or a U folded into the front, and finish the sides with some creativity and you can end up with something pretty slick.
Or take Mikey's excellent advice and hit restaurant suppy or auction places, and you can likely end up with something finished for not much more.

you get what you pay for. The more expensive tables will use better grade SS and a heavier gage.

i'm not going to be using it for food preperation but for laboratory experiments...so will 430 be suffice for that?

I still wouldn't use it if it were me..... But 304 is going to cost more though...
