Thanks for taking the time to hear me out.
I've been to the edge and back with my Athlon
(and I fell off)and I have now desided to build
a P3 system.
Most of all Im looking for stability in the
right motherboard / GeForce combo.
Im not sure if I should go 815 chipset or via 694x
any feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks

the i815 is a higher performing mobo, but is also more expensive.

If it were my $$$, I'd grab a BX board, but that's just me.

if it were me i would either go Soyo BA-100(bx based/raid capable - very cheap/very good, with the right chip-very overclockable and FAST) or an Asus CUSL2 (815E based, fairly pricey, but allegedly great board). i am a big BX proponent, but 815E based boards are becoming common, and new revisions will mean better/faster.

I went from a bx to 815 board with good results with both. The msi 6337 815e pro let me ovewrclock a p3 700 cbo past the gig milestone mark when the Soyo 6BA+4 would not. I never had any hardware issues with either board. Via based boards have been nothing but heartbreak and hassle for me and just gave up on them. I stayed away from building Athon based systems due to thier sick marriage with Viatech. If you go bx route Msi bx master or Soyo 6ba+3 or 4 or Asus p3b-f, or the Msi 6337 if you go the 815e route. The Asus cul2 has to many issues to be fixed as of current moment.

I'm a fan of (and have used extensively)

MSI
Abit
Asus

Soyo is pretty good, tho I'm not going to recommend them simply because I haven't used them much.

The Abit BX133 Raid looks cool as frozen poop.

I have an MSI BX Master, and it is incredible.

I'd wait a bit on the i815. They're going to get better.

the BX Master can be had for ~$100, and has just about everything you could want out of a BX board (unlses you're into RAID)

Robo:
I find your information very helpful, and was wonering if you would
give me a more in-depth description of your system.
You're running a socket 370 , correct?
What are your specs on the P3? version, that is.

Thanks
Joe

Well,I think my questions are answered after all, however,
What problems are you speaking of regarding the ASUS CUSL2?
I have done a comparrison only to find that your MSI board only goes up to 866mhz (without overclocking), is this true, as Im leaning towards the ASUS CUSL2 based on "Sharky Extreem " review - it goes to 933mhz stock.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks
Joe
