This will be my first SSD purchase so I thought it best to ask for advice from those who took the plunge before me. I am conducting some tech refresh on an old Dell M90. Laugh if you will but this laptop does everything I need it to and more. The current hard drive (a 100 GB Seagate Momentus SATA Smodel ST910021AS) is begiing to get a bit flakey and is having a hard time supporting my dual boot scheme (both Win 7 and Linux). I plan to move over to Linux Mint on this machine in th every near future.

Was hoping for recommendations for a best value SSD in the 120 or 240 GB range. Will this be a plug & play endeavor or will there be more work involved integrating the drive?

Thank you all ...

The M90 should use the same mobo as the latitude and if my memory is correct it is SATA-I, so just about any SSD will be fine. No need to buy the latest and greatest, as there will be no difference.

Crucial M500 are commonly on sale.

Process will be easy if you are reinstalling your OS's.

Thanks. I also understand that I might not realize the "full" potential of the SSD with this old unit. Appreciate the feedback ...
