Want:
1) At least somewhat-romantic songs.
2) Songs that mention dancing somewhere in the lyrics.
3) Something for a mixed audience of young and old (ie no heavy metal, no rap, no trance, nothing extreme). Looking for oldies, pop, light rock, etc. Even though I detest country, I don't have a country song in this list yet and probably should for the audience I'm thinking of.
4) Something with a good beat and the beat doesn't dramatically speed up/slow down during the song. That way, it is easy to dance to.
Stop reading if you hate long posts.
Background:
I'm trying to put together a CD of songs for my GF for a milestone in our relationship. I know it isn't original. But I'm doing a little twist. I'm going to have it tell a story about our relationship as it progresses from one song to another. Again lots of songs can do that, and it isn't that original. So, I'm narrowing the list down to the specific qualities in the list above. Then I'll have a DJ tell the story at a public dance (filled with our friends) as he plays the songs.
Story so far:
1) Our first meeting at a dance. Elton John's Tiny Dancer. The song describes her perfectly (from her looks, her attitude, down to the clothes she wore when we met). Ok, it isn't the most dancible song, but I have to use it since it is such a good fit.
2) One month in: Sinatra's Something Stupid. It mentions a fledgeling relationship, courting through dance. And it mentions the exact stupid thing I did - say I love you too soon into a relationship. And it is a great song to dance to.
3) Most of our first year: Michael Buble's Sway. This has got to be one of the best songs ever written - done by dozens of artists. Buble perfected it. Enough said.
4-10) ???
11) Now: Dave Matthews Band, Crush. "Its crazy, Im thinking, just knowing that the world is round. Im here Im dancing on the ground." That's me right now.
12) Future: ???
Need more for the dating part.
To avoid the ATOT ban, this will be here temporarilly (but removed later before GF finds it): Picture.
