Ok. . .

On a portable phone (not cell), there is this button you can press to locate the phone. When you press it, the phone beeps till you find it.

I want something like that for my keys and whatever else I could attach the device to.

I want to be able to press a button at home and the device attached to my keychain will make an audible alert. I have tried this cheap piece of crap that supposedly worked if you clapped (it did not).

Anyone seen any good things for the chronically disorganized?

Sharper image has a thing for that. Costs an arm and a leg though. A lot of other places sell them too but I can't remember off the top of my head.

There are other stuff like little things that beep when you whistle too.

I could use that too. I've found that if I designate one place for my keys, and always put them there, I *usually* don't lose them.

My car alarm can be used to find my keys....if I lose my keys, I just go out to my car and bang on the glass to set the alarm off. Then I run inside, and the pager on my keys is beeping and vibrating :D.

Kind of a hack, but it works.

You have one of those nifty ones with the LCD that show what part of the car was hit too?

My friend's mom had one of those wireless key finders. It worked well until she lost the base unit. Turns out the whole thing operated on the same frequency as her phone's page button!

Yup. I have this one. It tells you what tripped the alarm (door opening, hood/trunk opening, shock sensor, ignition, etc) and has different moving icons for each one. It also has remote start, but I don't use that often, cause the keyless entry doesn't work that well when it's running off remote start for some reason.

I don't have the basic transmitter though, I got 2 LCD remotes. It can be nice, but it's kind of a PITA at times.
