Looking for something to edit mp3

so i have a cellphone that i can load mp3's on with my computer, but im limited in space... so what i wanted to do was chop a section of an mp3 i want to use as a ringer so it would take up less space... anyone know of a simple to use (free) program that can do the job???

Audacity. I believe they have free versions too. I used it as I got it off a demo CD and it worked great for my video editing......

if you want i could do it for ya. just tell me what song and in-out points. if you wanna do it yourself, i use cool edit to do it.

what kind of phone? i do it for my nextel i860
