Looking For Some Minor Performance Gains

Hello!

Awesome forum you guys have here. I have been lurking around and I have found a lot of great info here. I just ordered a 420 Watt (12v 15A + 12v 14A) Enermax Noisetaker (EG425P-VE-SFMA) from NewEgg ($66) and hopefully it will arrive soon so I can quit limping around on this In-Win 300 Watter that came with my case! Thanks to everyone for the great posts on PSU's.

I am looking for some slight (dare I call them safe) performance mods I can make to squeeze a little more juice out of this proc I have. Its a AMD64 3200+ NewCastle (Socket 754). I'd like to retain the stock heatsink+fan combo if possible.

The rest of the info on my rig is in my signature. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Your DFI board should allow for easy overclocks, and 3400+ speed is only 200MHz away. If what you're experiencing is stuttering in games, though, you should invest in another stick of RAM.

Its not gaming that I am concerned about. I would just like to get as much processing power as I can get with the stock fan and heatsink. I am not a super OC'er, so any performance gain over stock is great in my mind.

Oh.... what applications are you looking for a speed boost in, specifically? A 3200+ is a damn fast chip by itself.

Various. Media Encoding (mainly DivX, WM Encoder), and anything that runs under Win2k3 64 Bit. I plan to get some games loaded on this machine and I am a sucker for benchmarks. I am not a hardcore gamer though, so most of the titles I play are older ones (Halo PC, UT, UT2004, etc.)
