looking for some different rims

Considering replacing these with something else. Don't want to spend a fortune, and besides, while light weight may be good, I don't need anthing super-strong. I don't plan on taking this thing to the track, after all. Just looking for a good bang-for-buck wheel. I will probably stay with 16s, too - going up to 17s seems to jack the price of tires up considerably.

To that end, I've been poking around on Tirerack.com for a while, and seen a few things that I like. Does anyone have any experience with TR's Sport Edition wheels? I've seen 3 in particular that I like, but these seem to be TR's "house brand", so I am a little wary of them. The three I have in mind are the D5, E1, and the F2. Possibly the F7, as well.

The only other 16s that I see and like are genuine forged racing rims, and the price more than triples to $300/wheel: the Motegi Traklites and/or SSR Type-C's

If I *do* go up to 17s, I've got a few more choices:

ASA-JH8s in either silver or black

Kazera KZ-As, also in either silver or black

MSW Type 14s: Designed by engineers @ OZ wheels, but made in China. I've heard real OZ rims are good, but this one may be a tossup.

There's also the Kosei K1-TS, then after that you're back into the $250 to $300+ range: Enkei Racing RP03, Gram Lights, SSR, and WedsSport.

Opinions? Suggestions?

Was just looking at your gallery to see the rims. Nice miata 🙂 What's the deal with the Explorer SportTrac w/half a rim though?

It was a picture I stumbled on floating the web a few years ago. Apparently the guy never took it out of park when he towed it behind his motorhome. I cannot believe it got that far down, though.

i like the Kosei K1-TS the most...but they're the expensive ones. i think black rims go best with black cars, though, but not the ones that look real cheap as if the rims aren't there and it's just a bare tire. that said, i like the Kazera black ones, too.

save your money. put that $1-2K towards your next, better car. all "rims" do is identify you to the cops as young and stupid. every now and then they look a little better than stock, but simply getting the next best car with the money would do more for you. in many cases, 2 grand will buy you a better options package on the same car that already includes better looking wheels.

I dont see anything wrong with the ones you have right now. But if I was the one replacing them I would go with a black design. The Kazera in black looks pretty good. I've always loved black rims with black cars.

By the way were was this picture taken?? I dont know why but it reminds me of Branson, MO.

a) I don't appreciate being called stupid

b) It'll be a long time before I get another vehicle.

close, but not quite. I was down in Fayetteville, AR when I took that. I live in Bentonville, a little further south and west of Branson.

You can ignore him, he drives an Accord, that says a lot about his taste, or lack there of. At least he looks like everyone else 😉

Hey, a lot of times what a lot of people do is the smartest thing to do. It's obvious that the Accord is a good car... and I mean, I wouldn't spend money on rims either.
But since he seems set on getting them, he definitely should get black ones. For sure. You have to get black rims. If you don't I will be very, very angry.
