Looking for some advice on new build for gaming mostly

Hello!
Once again i think it might be time to upgrade my pc, mostly been adding stuff when old things broke, but usually went with budget parts.

This is my current setup:
Mobo: Asus M4A785D-M PRO
CPU: Phenom II x6 1090T Black edition
CPU Fan: Noctua NH-D14
GPU: Radeon HD 5770
RAM: 5GB but no clue on mhz
PSU: Corsair CX500
Monitor: Acer V243HQ

Im thinking of upgrading the mobo, gpu, ram. Dont know about CPU, does the 1090T still work is it too old for for todays things? I usually just do gaming, watching movies - both at the same time etc.
Also considering to get a new CPU in that case.

Been looking at these mostly:
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 - ATX / 990FX
Gigabyte Radeon R9 280x Windforce / Sapphire R9 280x Vapor-X Tri-X
HyperX Fury DDR3 1600MHz 16GB Black (Dont know if i need to get low profile ones yet)

Budget is about 700$ up/down. Parts here in Sweden are quite expensive, so im trying to check ebay for cheaper GPU mostly.
Prefer AMD for parts as i always went with them, and theyre a bit cheaper.
Dont think ill be needing to OC for anything, as i dont do too heavy tasks

Im wondering if this will work out, will the PSU manage the new parts? Also the CPU Fan says its for AM2+, with the Sabertooth 990FX, will i have to replace it? Will my CPU still suffice?
Also been thinking of running dual monitors with 1920x1080, should work out?

Been looking at hardware for quite a while so waiting a little longer doesnt hurt as im in no rush, just really need some help putting stuff together and see what ill need and what old part that still work, or if i need to get new of everything.

Im open for suggestions and tips, Thanks!

We'll need more information before proceeding, please read this post and update your thread with responses to it. It seems mighty odd to me though to update your motherboard with a more expensive motherboard but keep the same CPU.

True. I see one possible reason for it: His motherboard only supports DDR2!

What kind of games are you playing? What's your budget in SEK? ~5000? And can you post a website where you might buy parts?
 
For example Tera online mostly, yes about 5000 in SEK.
Ive been looking at webhallen.se and komplett.se.

I saw that newegg has shipping to poland, there is an possibility that i could ship to a friend that could bring it to sweden (they live there and here).
But im not quite sure hows the shipping cost/VAT would be to EU.
 
I think that you can do better than throwing money a 990FX board just to get DDR3 support on an old CPU.

If you increase your budget by 400 SEK, (<10%) you can get a new CPU/mobo/RAM plus the GPU.

i5 4460 + MSI B85M-E45 + Crucial DDR3 1600 8GB 3000 SEK
Sapphire R9 280X Tri-X 2400 SEK

The board will work with the 4460 assuming it's BIOS has been updated. I'd probably call Komplett before I ordered to make sure that you can return the bundle if the board happens to come with an older BIOS version and won't boot.

Alternatively, if you'd like to stay strictly under budget and guaranteed BIOS compatibility:

i5 4460 (Demo unit) 1360 SEK
MSI H97M-G43 780 SEK
Crucial DDR3 1600 8GB 800 SEK
Sapphire R9 280 4840 SEK
 
So ill need to change all the parts basically?
Will my PSU be able to handle those new parts? Or will i have to change it too?
Im really more of an AMD person (sorry for being stupid), are the new AMD CPUs a lot worse than the intel ones?
how would the 1090T perform if overlocked a little? I googled around a bit and it seems like it still can perform really well
 
Your PSU will handle the new parts just fine. Although some folks may choose to switch it out depending on how old of a unit it is. If it's more than say 6 years old you may want to consider switching it out but it would not be required. The new AMD CPUs do not compare well to Intel in the vast majority of uses, especially in the uses that you put in your post. It would take a substantial overclock of your Phenom II x6 1090T to equal the performance of the i5 that mfenn listed.
 
Oh i see, thanks for clearing that up.
Im a bit curious on the performance, with intel outperforming the amd cpu, is this actually a noticeable thing when gaming? I read at most places that the intel cpus performs much better and gives a higher FPS than AMD cpus but in reality does this actually affect gaming?
 
That depends on the game to a degree. When it comes to most modern games yes you'll notice a difference between Intel and AMD CPUs. On some the difference is more pronounced if the game relies more heavily on the CPU than it does on the GPU.
 
Oh i see, guess it might be time to change over to Intel, most places i go it seems ppl prefer them.
I just checked with a friend from Poland and since Newegg ships there i could actually get things a lot cheaper than actually buying them here in Sweden.

Mobo: Comparison 3 Mobos 125-150$
CPU: i5-4690K Devil's Canyon
RAM: HyperX Fury 16gb 1866mhz 155$
GPU: SAPPHIRE TRI-X OC 100362-2SR Radeon R9 290 270$

The bundle mfenn posted was nice, i was wondering how the i5-4460 is vs the i5-4590 as the pricing on those 2 is very close on Newegg, is it worth the extra $ for a i5-4590?
Also the things i put together there goes above the budget quiet a bit but since i can get better stuff cheaper i thought id go a bit further this time.

How would this setup be? Will it be optimized or am i wasting too much on something that isnt needed?

Not sure which motherboards you're looking at as you seem to have accidentally linked the PSU comparison twice. Of the PSUs listed I would go with the Rosewill Capstone as they're made by Super Flower which is an OEM that makes some really high quality PSUs.

Agree. Of those the Capstone is the best choice. But the Capstone 750W is an amazing deal right now at $60.

As for the 4460 versus 4590, I don't think the 4590 makes sense unless you need compatibility with 8 series motherboards. The extra 100 MHz is not noticeable.

I went on and thought about the i5-4690k if i ever would OC in the future. Is that a good idea?

The 4690K is required if you want to overclock. It also often has combo deals with motherboards that can make it cost roughly the same as one of the lower-tier parts or let you get a better motherboard (depending on how you look at the combo discount).

Right now I would get the i5 4690K + ASRock Z97 Killer combo for $295.
