Looking for small[ish] GTX 970

Hi folks,

I'm currently using one of these: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4211#ov in a Silverstone GD-04, and I'm looking for a 970 to replace it.

My first choice would probably have been the Gigabyte G1 Gaming as it's pretty much the equivalent, however for whatever reason they made the board absurdly long, so it's out. All of the others I've looked at are shorter, but most (notably including the well-regarded Asus and MSI) seem to be a lot taller, sticking out well above the height of the PCI-E riser. I have very little space to play with there, so I'm pretty sure those are out too.

So far, the EVGA models seem to be the only ones that I'm confident will actually fit, and I've been reading mixed reviews about those when it comes to cooler efficiency, fan noise, and coil whine (it doesn't help that most of the reviews are not for the FTW version, which has a different cooler).

Can anyone suggest any others that I might investigate, that don't extend above the height of the PCI-E riser? Should I just go ahead and get an EVGA?

Ah, interesting. I thought I'd looked at Zotac and ruled them out, but maybe I mixed them up with another one, or maybe they have different models that aren't the same size.

Either way, I'll have a look at that card. Thanks for the pointer.

They do have several models. There is a "normal" length version available too.
