Looking for slow paced FPS games

BioShock?

I never found it to be too challenging. Not too fast paced either, and great atmosphere and story-telling.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior.
its all about getting the shots, sneaking from one spot to the other.
good graphics, a bit consolized and not more than 15 hours on it, but a nice game nevertheless.
hoping for more games like it.

Well if you want to get good as a beginner I recommend Quake Live. Otherwise I'd imagine every other first person shooter wouldn't be too demanding on its easy setting.

Oh yeah, Unreal 2.
And Unreal.
And Aliens Vs Predator.
and No One Lives Forever.
And Tron 2.0.

Incidentally, all of the above were made by Monolith and use different versions of the same engine. And most of them use the same gameplay mechanics for gaining XP and such.

Half-life, and not half-life 2, but the original half-life.

Portal - move at your own pace.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl - play on the lowest difficulty. This game has lots of areas to explore.

Modern Warfare 2 (COD 4) is not slow paced, but it is fairly easy on the lowest difficulty and I really liked the game a lot. The sequels went progressively downhill.
I also enjoyed Borderlands. It is easy if you level sufficiently, but very difficult if you are under-levelled. If you are having difficulty, just do more side missions to level up.

Half Life 2 I dont recall being that easy, especially the final battle where you are sort of swarmed by striders. Half Life one was probably easier. Both games were fun though, with more puzzles than the normal shooter if you like that kind of thing.

And I thought Fallout 3 was just plain difficult on the easiest setting. Weak guns and never seemed to have enough ammo. Maybe I just did not get the hang of it or was missing something.

Half Life 2 was insanely easy on easy difficulty. it was the first pc game I played and finished and only the very end of the game was more than a cakewalk. I played the original Half Life afterwards and it was way harder for me.

Counter-Strike with easy bots or a friend that doesn't mind getting shot down for a few hours. Or really any FPS with LAN hosting or lockable servers.

Thats how I use to teach my friends how to play. I'd just start a game either 1 v me or multiple vs me and I'd just run around and let them try to kill me. Just make sure to shoot at them and don't let them kill you all the time or they'll get bored. Training like that seemed to work well enough.

Fallout 3 or Fallout NV. They seem pretty "slow" paced when compared to other shooters, especially if you use VATS the entire game.
