looking for rotateable LCD

Most video cards can rotate the image on the screen any way you want even if the monitor doesn't explicitly 'support' rotation. It just won't happen automatically when you turn it sideways (and some cheaper monitors don't come with a stand that can rotate).

Most graphics cards (I think) also support hotkeys to rotate the screen, so you won't have to go into driver settings all the time to do it, just press a could ofkeys, so it's not too time consuming todo.

There should be 3rd party software that can rotate the screen. I know for a fact that ATI's Catalyst Control Center can do it using a hotkey. I'm not sure with nVidia since I didn't have a monitor that can rotate while I had an nVidia card (over 1.5 years ago). The smart money is on nVidia having such a feature though.

As for rotatable LCD's, Dell's 2005FPW and presumably the 2405FPW can rotate. I think most widescreen LCD's have a rotation feature so that you can switch between landscape and portrait modes.

Dell's large ones 20" and up can pivot (even the widescreen ones!), and these days any old graphics card driver has the required functionality built-in - no need for 3rd party software anymore.

the gateway 21 inch wide screen supposedly does auto tilt, tilt the screen it auto adjusts the display.

I saw it yesterday it's much sexier than my 2005fpw 🙁

Thanks for all the info. 🙂

My ATI card can rotate the screen, but without the monitor/LCD rotate as well, the funciton will be pretty much useless
