Hey all,

I'm selling an L&C LC250ATX power supply in the sale forum, and a user recently posed a question about the quality of L&C power supplies. So, since I've not had much success finding info for them online, I figured I would ask on here to see if anyone had any experience with them. Please tell me anything you can about quality and usefulness of L&C ATX power supplies. Thanks! :)

I've got a 235 or 250W L&C myself. Only problem I've ever had is the fan going out. Replaced that POS with a Panaflo. I can't vouch for the "cleanliness" of the power, but then again it doesn't seem to matter with o/c celerons. Supply has been going daily for almost 3 years now. Looking to grab an Enermax 430W unit for my P4!

How's that for an opinion: I found two of these in the garbage pile outside the local computer store. One had an exploded capacitor, one had a noisy, barely moving fan.

I moved the fan from the exploded one to the noisy one. Since I was inside and soldering, I also moved one of the drive cables, so it has 6 full size + 1 floppy size drive plugs.

I am now using the result, on a VP6 with dual PIII 700@933. It lowered my CPU temp from 37C to 35C - either a better fan or more outflow air holes in the power supply (see other thread). Has been in use for about 3 hours!

The fan says "sleeve bearing" on it. I guess I would have to replace it (or at least oil it) pretty soon.

And they were both 235W units, not 250.

So, that was not an opinion? You may have learned something anyway.

frankly I wouldn't exactly use a garbage bin power supply on a vp6/dual p3 system, EVER :Q :Q :Q
Jeez, ya spend over $400 on your combo and can't afford $50 on a quality PS?

And why, pray tell, should I not? I do not expect it to damage my components, or should I? If the fan fails, the CPUs will shut down with thermal overload.

I like to tinker. If it works, I let it work.

And yes, once I spend the $500 on MoBo + CPUs, I have less left for PS:)
