Looking for reliable and relatively cheap cable modem and router

I'm looking for a reliable cable modem and router setup. I recently got cable through Charter (only thing in my area) and want to get my own modem as well as share the connection between two computers. According to Charter anything DOCSIS certified is compatible with their service. I would get the Linksys setup, but I've read lots of problem comments for both the router and modem.

I'm looking at these two setups:

Linksys BEFSR41 or BEFSX41 Router
Linksys BEFCMU10 Cable Modem

or

D-Link DI-604 Router
D-Link DCM-201 Cable Modem

I've read plenty on the both brands of routers, along with the Linksys modem. The D-Link modem looks relatively new. Do you guys have any comments on these setups. Again, I just want something that will last along time. I'm relatively new to all this stuff.

I would get the D-link if I was you, but then again I'm a D-link fanboy. I have had very good luck with D-link products. The Linksys is probably fine, but I have never used Linksys.

You may be have a Good reason for the content of your list.

But this is only $19 affter rebate and it is even Wireless.

Thanks for some replies. At this point, I'm not really interested in having a wireless setup. I just don't have the need.

A good friend and both have a BEFSR41 router. Both of us have all of the computers connected to the router (He has 3; I have 2) on all the time with instant messaging clients open and various files downloading nearly 24 hours per day. Neither one of us has ever suffered from downtime as a result of the router.

The price is right regardless of the Wireless. :light:

I.e. You probably will not find a Cheaper Brand name Wired.
