Looking for recommendations for a Plasma display/TV

So, the CEO of our company now wants to have a plasma display television in our conference room and he put me in charge of this project. He wants to spend around $3000-$5000. He's looking to be able to connect this to a computer for presentation purposes and be able to watch dvd movies. The screen size should be at least 36" or greater.

Do you have any recommendations on plasma displays and/or places to shop for these. The timeframe is 2-3 weeks. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

man I wish I got projects like that at work...finding the best deals on electronics. Thats one thing I'd be really good at.

if you want to put this up in a conference room I assume it has to be hanging from the ceiling or wall.

You may want to look into a projector...thats what our company uses in all its conference rooms. They work great for presentations and most of them can playback DVDs as well.

Panasonic 42" Plasma

I've been looking into getting one for awhile now, this seems to be the best deal for the money. Plus its a true HDTV plasma, most of the ones you see in the stores that are $5k and under are EDTV and don't look as good as a monitor.

I guess it doesn't have to be plasma... thanks, i'll check that out.

So, what are the benefits of plasma?

Very thin display.
Native 720p support.

That's about it. Price/performance-wise they are not the best for HDTV or DVD.

my Sammy DLP has native 720P support and is very well priced, paid $3850 for a 61" model

Can you hang it from the wall?

The room with ambian light in destroys the colour of an RPTV or projector for that. IF you can control the amount of light in the room it is good.

I myself will go Plasma when I have a place of my own. Definately want to hang it on the wall. Rooms in England are not big!

Whats are the benefits of a DLP compared to a plasma display? Just wondering what i should get....

THanks again 🙂

Where's a good place to buy a plasma from a B&M store? I really want to take a look and watch something on one of these displays to get a better feel for them.

Does Circuit City or GOod Guys carry the Panasonic TH-42PWD6UY display?

I've heard really good things about this plasma display.

Has anyone had any experience buying a plasma screen from Costco? They have really good prices, but they only seem to carry Sampo. Do you know the quality of this brand? Any help will be great! 🙂
