Looking for program that allows you to play old dos games on windows...

my bro found this one http://www.scummvm.org/ but i dunno, with a name like scumm it sounds kinda shady, this is probably for the old lucasarts games like sam and max and monkey island, ya'll have any good suggestions? thanks.

scummvm is not shady... it's been popular for years. and the name scumm comes directly from the original engine name used by sierra (or lucasarts, whatever)

Set up a dual boot system.

Avoids the overhead of having to run through Windows.

i already have a 486 system, was looking to run all games on one comp though :)

Have you tried augmenting the CPU cycles in the console, Gurk? You can do it by pressing ctrl+F12 (to increase CPU cycles) or ctrl+F11 to decrease them.

The SCUMM program is excellent, but is not for all dos games.

The folder with SCUMM and about 6 of the Lucas Arts games I've been saving for years is only about 800 MB.

SCUMM starts up with an index of games (after setup) , is easy to use , and works great.

Dosbox is the one for general dos games, but all I use that for so far is Carmen San Diego.
It works very well , this on a 700Mhz Athlon
