I've lived in Texas for most of my life. I think visiting San Antonio would be a good idea. They have Fiesta Texas (a really nice amusement park), Sea World (another amusement park), and a neat downtown area full of fun places to shop and eat.

I would suggest Austin and San Antonio for a few days. Only 1.5 hrs apart, and both great cities to visit. If you wanna see the ocean, stay away from Galveston, and try to head down towards the Corpus Christi area(much nicer then Galveston).

Austin rocks. Head down to 6th street for good bars.

ditto

The best place to visit the Gulf (there are no oceans near Texas) is probably South Padre Island at Port Isabella (right near Mexico). If you don't want to drive that far try Padre Island at Corpus Christi. Besides the Gulf...well, I hope you like theme parks or drinking, there isn't much else to do in Texas.

I went to Galveston.....at the very bottom.............it is very nice............and there is "The strand" like a shopping market.............very cool

lived in Dallas the past 15 years and in Houston 5 years before that...

my 2 cents is for San Antonio...more things to see there...

riverwalk, Hemisphere park, alamo, sea world, fiesta texas, la villita (old mexican village), needle next to SBC building where the Spurs play.

not sure how many other cities have this, but they have traffic billboards on the major freeways that tell you how many minutes it will take to reach major intersections ahead based on traffic conditions....we don't have that in dallas...

here is a cool pic i took from the sky needle thing

Brenham is a nice little town. Very pretty especially when the bluebonnets are blooming.

When you're there be sure to visit the Blue Bell Creamery and have a little taste of the best ice cream on the planet! 🙂

A couple of nice historical landmarks to visit are the San Jacinto Monument and the Battleship Texas in LaPorte about 25 minutes southeast of Houston.

If you visit LaPorte, you may as well check out NASA's Space Center Houston about 10-15 minutes away.
