Yeah I did a build on digital storm, picked their cheapest option and configured it with a HAF case, 2500K, 8GB, SLI GTX580s, 1000W Corsair PSU, Level 6 cooling CPU Dual GPU and Chipset, picked the max overclocking for the CPU/GPU, and added a memory fan (since it wont have as much air cooling anymore) it came out to like 4050$ or something. Im looking for someone with the EVGA 590 Hyrdo you were looking at. Or finding some place that can watercool a pair of them under 4 grand.

Im wondering what platform should be picked...I think the 25/2600K are cheaper and better, but they have limited GPU lanes. The X58 platform was the top end stuff and still aint bad but it is more expensive and a bit slower. You can get 5GHz on the new system while 4.5GHz seems to be the most on the old X58.

Im kinda having fun with this...Ill keep looking.

Gr8 man, thanks. your sig is amazing btw

HMMMmmm...

Just the hardware, before watercooling and overclocking is about 3500$ with the X58 i7-970 and GTX590 SLI. Theres probably another 500$ just to get all the watercooling parts, so I dont think youll find anyone doing it for 4 grand.

Im still under the feeling that the 25/2600K and GTX580 SLI would better fit the budget and therefore be the better option.

Well you can always switch over to some ATI goodness for multimonitor gaming. Right now they are far better at it than Nvidia (but Nvidia is better with the 3D).

You can get some 28" 1920x1200 monitors for like 300$ or less...so lets see:
You can do an Azzo 2000, i7 2600K +30% OC (With TT Frio), Asus P8P67, 8GB 1600MHz, Dual ATI 6970s, 750W Corsair, Blu-Ray Burner DVD Burner Win7 etc. For about 2300$
That means you could get 5-28" monitors and do some serious surround gaming.

Or get some 3D monitors...or a nice big 30" 2560x1600.

So many fun things can be done with 4 grand...I wonder if 3D projectors can do true 120Hz. You can get a nice 1080P projector for like 2 grand.

OK, I am going with 1 GTX 590 EVGA Classified, 1 i7 990z or 2600k Over clocked, 8 or 12GB 1600 Ram, 1 120GB to 160GB SSD, 1 2TB HDD, 1 DL Reader / Writer, 1 BD Reader / Writer, Coolmaster HAF-X, and the best mobo and psu for this setup. Also I want the system to run quite but I dont want water cooling. How should I do this? Cyberpowerpc? Custom Build?

OK, heres what I did, verify this for me before I order if you don't mind. I configured it like this so it is 100% silent , with water cooling, and it will be ready for future upgrades, like adding another graphics card. idk if I still need fans on the case. But yea let me know if theres anything I should change! thanks

Hate to break it to you, but that build is not "100% silent".

Quiet? Probably. Silent? Hell no.

Also, LOL at putting a $3K gaming rig on wireless.

This thread doesn't need as many pages...he starts new threads with every thought...:p

Most of us have an aversion to pre-built because we know we can build better for less.

Hell, OriginPC builds some very nice custom PC's...but they charge for it. (founders of Alienware)

"we can build the same thing for $2000 or less."

- how

I saw mfenn's build in another thread, and it's less then half the cost, but most certainly not half the performance. I wouldn't expect the build to exceed $2k even if you swapped out the 2x 6950s for 2x GTX 570s.

Have you compared the cost of doing 2x570 vs the 1 590? There are a few benefits of splitting up the GPUs. You could go with the Pro version of that MOBO, its a little bit more but supports SLI. Probably worth getting the 360mm cooling system if its running both the CPU and GPU...theres a ton of heat there. It will fit in a HAF-X. The Azza 2000 is a cheaper option, it should do 360MM as well, and it has bigger fans that should be quieter.

Perhaps try an 850W gold version PSU? If your going with non SLI MOBO and a single GTX590 you wont be adding a second later (especially since youd have to redo your water cooling). 850W should be enough power and the gold 80 plus are more efficient than the standard 80 plus. Thatd save a little on the power bill. If you do SLI 590s youd need more than 950W I think. 850-950 is good for 580 SLI.

You can save money on a SATA II 2TB drive, it simply wont affect performance of a standard HDD.

Might be better off buying software elsewhere, I dont think anybody likes McAfee anymore (I think Kaspersky is one of the best now, you can get a 3 user for free after rebate) and you probably can get Crysis 2 for less.

Oh I see...no option for liquid cool GTX570s...though I did manage to do dual 580s by skipping some stuff (like the software, chose a lower price case (AZZA 2000) etc) 580SLI would be faster dunno how good their 360mm kit is though.

Just throwing out last minute ideas.

Funny...the Corsair 950W is only 9$ more than the 850W. That makes it a no brainer, I was thinking itd cost more. The 850W gold is actually more.

Since they dont offer watercooled 570s I think your fine with a single watercooled GTX590. The 2600K is fine as is the MOBO and 8GB DDR3 1600MHz. I think all your hardware choices look good...the only changes I would make are minor ones, save a tad bit with a regular SATA-II HDD, perhaps go with a 10X Blu-Ray and skip that McAfee. You can then use those savings to upgrade to the 360MM cooling kit (thats a 50% boost in cooling capability).

Minor nigglings thatd Id do personally:
Id probably skip the professional wiring since youve got watercooling...
Im totally diggin that Azza 2000 case because of the lower cost and it comes with 8 fans stock (and theyre blue so no need to pay extra for the bling), though I think theyll steal some-like the top fans will be replaced with the radiator. I have a feeling its dual side fans will cool the MOBO components better since you no longer have the CPU/GPU fans helping. Its got hotswap bays and USB3 ports like the HAF-X too...but I think it ends up just being a personal preference thing. The HAF-X is a good case.

And why wireless? That does seem odd :p
Edit: Oh and heres one option for antivirus, its that Kaspersky I was talking about:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...355021&cm_re=KASPERSKY-_-32-355-021-_-Product
Free after rebate right now (looks like sale expires on the 7th)

Though there are some truley free software options that work well too...I think we have a security thread that lists all the best free options.

Remember, once it arrives open it up and check all the cables and such make sure they havnt vibrated loose...and double check to make sure you got everything youve paid for. Mistakes can happen.

Oh and perhaps you could post pictures for all us poor bastards to drool over.
