Looking for Optical dongle or cheap soundcard with optical out for my HTPC

I have a great motherboard with HDMI. Problem is my old receiver does not support it. I would just like to use a Toslink cable. The MB does have a SPDIF OUT connector, the standard 4-pin connection (+5V, EMPTY, SPDIF_OUT, GND). I'm having a hard time trying to find a reduced profile card/bracket. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Can you just get a full height one and modify a low profile one to hold it?

I looked around a bit and found a low profile digital coaxial IN bracket that was low profile, but not and optical out.

Oh, and it does look easier to find an adapter to do digital coaxial out. Does it have to be optical?

If all that's available is the full height one, I could probably live with that.

As to digital coaxial, are the cables similarly in price to a Toslink cable? I just have never used it since I have quite a few Toslink cable around. I've always assumed that optical was better.

Send me those links. Depending on the price, I might go with either.

You could also use an USB to digital out box such as Trends UD-10.1 or usb to external DAC type solutions.

There are probably lots of other cheap others (check out Head-Fi because I don't keep up on all the options).

Here's an example of an accessories list from Gigabyte

For digital coaxial, you can just use an RCA cable. The yellow ones used for composite video should be 75ohm and be exactly what you need for digital coaxial use.

You may go to ebay and search for "Xitel". They make a USB to Toslink converter. It's not a DAC and it will prob set you back about 20 bucks.
