looking for new TV

I have an old 60hz Samsung LCD. Want to upgrade. I'm not sure what models to look at and have no real preference either way between LED or Plasma. I know Plasma has faster response times for gaming and I am a big gamer. I also know that LED is brighter and has a slimmer profile but a good Plasma is more accurate in colors. My real concern is viewing distance vs size. I normally sit 8feet away from the screen in my room. How big a TV is too big for this distance? Another thing is I want a quality screen. I'm not concerned so much with network and 3D but if those features don't jack up the price then fine. I'd say I'm about 50% gamer, 30% movie watcher (Blu-Ray etc), and 20% TV.

If you could recommend me a brand/model that would be great.

I sit about 6-8' away from my 50" in my room, so I think you should be good with a 55". It's a good size, but shouldn't be too big. That being said, check out Panasonic's 55" VT30 or new VT50, or Sony's 55" HX929. Both are great TV's and you really can't go wrong with either one.
