Wait a couple of weeks for the after thanksgiving sales, most places will have great deals on HDTVs and financing options. If I have to get an RPHDTV, I'd have to go with Mitsu, Pioneer, Toshiba, Sony.... in that order.

the deals are the same no matter what time of the year. Lets start with what size you are looking for, and a price range. I sell tv's and would be happy to point you in the right direction. Conjur however, will try to sell you on a Sony :p

I used to sell shtuffs at the Good Guys, and usually, during the week of Thanksgiving, we have different financing packages and rebates that's only available during that period (to be competitive with every one else). But what the consumers failed to realize is that we have a "LOW PRICE GUARANTEE", so, if you buy a products and within 60 days there was a better deal out, you get the difference. There is no need to wake up early on Black Friday trying to buy the store.....

EDIT: Add Panasonics to the list, even though I'm not happy with some of their products of late. IF I was to do that, might as well add RCA (scenium) also.

and ours is 90 days...if you want to get technical, wait til early fall when all the TV's are switching over and stores are clearing out the old models...either way, holiday prices are no lower than normal on big ticket items

What's your price range?
What city are you in? (for HDTV OTA or HDTV over cable vs. satellite)
Any size restrictions?

looking for something round 27" or so in size, good picture, sound etc. It is going to be a stand alone tv (no sound system) so it doesnt need to have tons of inputs.

The only company that makes a 27" HDTV that I know of is Philips. But do try to get a 34".
