Looking for new, top-of-the-line SSD

I'm looking for a SSD for my brand new system. I know that a few companies are releasing new SSD's soon, so I would like to know what are the options I should consider. I already know about the following:

Crucial C400
Intel 510 series

What other options are available for new or recent SSD's?

I need to buy the SSD soon. I don't think I can wait any longer.

The new Sandforce controllers are hitting the market shortly. See the recent article covering the Vertex 3 on the main page for details/performance.

Those two drives you mentioned along with the Plextor SSDs use the same controller: Marvell 9174.

So, in other words, they will offer similar performance?

Generally drives using the "same" controller offer similar performance. Really, even if performance differs, you'd only notice with benchmarks and not during actual use.

disappointed at what aspect? linear rear and random write are the only thing you should worry about. The write cycles are so low on mlc that if you were to actually be affected by lower write speeds you would kill your ssd before no time.

90-95% read is nominal in a business workstation environment. Laptops a little less (<90%) if working offline.

writes.

read and random 4K is where its at for consumer

That's what I'm trying to find out. If they are not available on or before April, I'm going with the Intel or Crucial one. I'm tired of waiting.

They've said mid march, no? I can understand that impulse, however.

Sure, but it gets blown out of the water in all categories, even in those. That's why Storage review is good; they implement those nice "real world" tests. Of course you can always argue methodology, but it seems clear that the Sandforce 2xxx drives will be better. However, if there's some kind of issue with their internals, like the 25nm Vertex/Agil 2 series, things might go different.
