I just sold my 2004 V8 VW Touareg and am in the process of selling my 2002 911 Carerra 4 Cab. I need to consolidate into one car and have the peace of mind with warranty.

I have two large dogs (lab and golden) and both of them like to go to the beach and go swimming. I go backpacking/camping a couple of times a year, head up to the snow a couple of times a year, go to the beach a dozen times a year. The back of my last touareg always looked like I robbed a Play it Again sports-tennis racquets, racquetball racquets, basketball, softball glove, cleats, football, etc.

My budget is $50K once i sell the Porsche. My car before the porsche was an M3. I really like cars.

That all being said i'm having a hell of a time deciding what to get. I'm not a fan of the X3/X5 family of cars. The Q5 is nice, but a bit small. The new touareg is cool, but a bit more down market. The new cayenne is gorgeous but a bit out of my price range.

I dont want to buy used unless the car has under 10K miles and is a current body style (i.e. both the touareg and cayenne are updated for MY11, so no 2010's).

I checked out the Ford Edge and just couldn't get over all the plastic on the interior. For 41K it seemed overpriced (looked at ford edge sport w/ options).

I guess I'm leaning towards another Touareg, but i feel like i want a change...

Landcruiser, not because you're likely to use any of its capabilities, but because nobody ever recommends a Landcruiser in these threads. Fully loaded would be way out of your budget, but if you could find one with few options it might be close.

If you're not impressed with an Explorer's interior you're probably not going to be impressed with the GM, Toyota or Honda, that pretty much rules out the entire SUV market.

For 50k, don't get an Edge. Get the Lincoln MKX. It's basically the Edge Sport with a lot nicer interior. We had them at work for the longest time. We have this one wealthy lawyer who takes it every weekend and swears by it. Guy probably goes balling for hookers in it. Handles great, plenty of power (305hp IIRC), very stylish.
