I have looking to buy PSU for my computer around $60 - $70range. After recent HD and GPU addition it seems like my old PSU isn't giving enough power anymore. No OS would even boot up or install on system. I was forced remove my new GPU and put in old GPU. Now Fedora 7 install but Windows XP still won't clean install or boot...

I currently have Thermaltake Purepower butterfly 480W PSU, however it has only 18A on 12V rail. Here my current configuration:

CPU: AMD Althon 64 3400+ 2.4 ghz newcastle (not overclocked)
MB: MSI Neo Platinum S754 nforce 250gb chipset
RAM: 1xGB + 1x512MB corsair value select PC 3200
Video: ATI Radeon 850x PRO
HD: 1x 120 GB PATA Seagate
1 x 250 GB 7200 SATA Seagate
1x 500 GB SATA Seagate 7200.9
2 x 500GB SATA Seagate 7200.10 (software raid 0)
Opticals: 1x NEC 2500A DVD-/+RW
1x CD-Rom
OS: Fedora 7
(WinXP install/boot doesn't work probably use to PSU)

I have been looking at: Antec NeoHE 550 ($55 after rebate) at new egg:

Any suggestions on what to get would help. Thanks.

i have had great luck with the antecs.
after almost 2 years of running my antec 550 overloaded it finally started to give out. i took off some of the load and it seems to have recovered some. its not at full voltage like it was but im at least back to 12v.
i am planning on just using it for the main things and using another for all the added stuff. hopefully it will last me a while longer until i can get a new one.

i will definately buy another antec, any lesser make would have failed way before this.

The Corsair 450VX has all the power on one 12V rail, which the other have multiple 12V rails. I not really familiar with multiple 12V rails. With multiple 12V rail you have connect each hardware unit to specific 12V rail or does the PSU take of that yourself? If you have to manually connect each hardware unit to different 12V rail, I think it might be hard for me to tell if I over using that 12v rail or not.

Any suggestions on multiple vs 1 12V rail PSUs?
