I was looking at the onkyo brand since I've used and liked them in the past. The models I am looking at and was wondering if anyone else had some input on them are these
the onkyo HTIBs are pretty nice as they come with a full featured receiver so you can upgrade speakers later if you wish 😀
shoponkyo.com sometimes has a sale on their refurbs (with full warranty i think)
I did see the HT-S9400THX system at newegg for 799 with free shipping. That is about 100 more then I paid for my system several years ago and it was not anything close to top of the line then either this one seems to be their cream of the crop.
I did have a side question though concerning that system. I want to connect my htomega eclaro card to it for 7.1 but looks like the only way to do that is through the analog inputs is that correct and how would I do that from the receiver or is the optical the better way to go and have it do virtual surround?
hmm, i dunno... if you have an ATI 5xxx gpu (or any GPU capable of HDMI passthrough/audio over HDMI) you can just use the HDMI port on the gpu to send video and audio, which would be the simplest and best way.

my brother for some reason thinks optical is better than analog but i'm not completely sure that's true.
the vga like output is a D_SUB (and the sound card probably came with the cable) but i dunno if its ever used for audio... kinda weird how its on the sound card. From the item link, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882120187
The onkyo does have a vga input but its probably for video? (unsure) try looking it up to see if it can process that as sound.
but you can most likely use the optical/digital out from the eclaro to the digital/optical in on the onkyo.
edit: sorry i thought you had the s9400thx heh, so ignore this segment unless it still applies
