looking for new compact digital camera

Let me start by saying I used to love canon cameras, I've had the 110 and 210 for years, but in the last 3 months I've gone through 3 differnt canon cameras...all with huge lens issues.

It started with a 4MP (forgot the name) got it on sale at some website...within a week the seal on the lens (ruber "o" ring) came out and lens started making noise. THen I go up to the next level canon. Within a month the focus stops working. So, being the idiot that I am, I buy the is900...the most expensive one....and now the lens is stuck open after 2 months. Luckily I got it from Costco and they will take it back, but they won't take back all the crappy batteries and memory cards I bought.

So I need some suggestions for a new camera. I'm looking for a sub-compact that takes great pictures and is reliable.

thanks

I don't have any problem with one year old Canon Powershot A610 5.0 mega pixel If I want to upgrade it will be another Canon. I always wanted Powershot A700.
Anyway Sony Cybershot series are good I can't remember which model my old roommate had before.
If you have enough money go for digital SLR take your pick between Nikon or Canon.

look at the Casio's, they are the thinnest cameras out there and take really nice pictures. The prices on them are pretty decent and they even have a model with 7x optical zoom. I saw them at Best Buy and was blown away how small they were.

I have to Samsung NV10, it works great. But I think the NV7 is supposed to be better, although the lens is a little bulky so it would be hard to find a good size case to carry it around.
