Time to sell off my 2000 Toyota Avalon for something that's faster and preferably more cargo space that's aroudn $45k. Seriously considering the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, but might be hard to get my hands on one. Any other suggestions?

I'd go with a Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition and save 15k+, but that's just me :)

Unless you want an SUV, how about a Dodge Magnum SRT-8 ?

Same engine as the Jeep, but more car-like.

And has quite a bit of cargo room.

No offense, but the Explorer is a pile of dung compared to a Grand Cherokee.

I've been in both and never really been that impressed with either, but he seems to want an SUV, so whatever. Regardless of that, I wouldn't spend over 40k on either :)

I think the Lexus RX400h would be a cool choice if you're looking for an SUVish thing - get the power, "gas mileage" <cough>, and space.

Audi A6 Avant would be a great choice too if you're looking for something more fun.

SUVs are for soccer moms to haul their spoiled brat kids to the mall. Why do you need one?

Doesn't have to be SUV.. just something with more cargo space.. Magnum SRT8 was my second choice.. Maybe even a large sedan like an Infiniti M45.

Go with the magnum, I test drove one and it's a decent car.
The only thing that stops me from considering that car is the non-availability of a manual transmission.

The new S80 will be out later this year, with a V8 and AWD. Should be pretty sweet. But that's a ways off.

I don't know all that much about pricing, but I've always been impressed with the technology of Audi.

If I had 45k to spend I'd at least take a look at the A6 wagon or maybe the new Q7.

Ever heard of something called "snow"?

You don't need an SUV to drive in the snow. What dumbass told you that? And why did you believe it? Oh wait, tv marketing tells you that you need an SUV to drive in the snow...therefore it must be true. Congrats, you are a lemming.
