As the thread-title says. Haven't seen any around. Would prefer one with AMD's E350, but getting less picky. Do you know of any brand who use this in any of their line-ups? In advance thanks for replies.

Lenovo Thinkpad X120e has a matte screen and can be configured with the E350.

For this as well... Bought one last month and have no complaints. Recently, swapped to a SSD, and it's an even better little machine for my needs.

My original MSI Wind has a matte screen. Don't know about their newer models.

Hey bacstar, I've been looking at purchasing the x120e and was wondering if you could answer some questions for me.

• How well-built does it feel?
• Is the keyboard pretty good? Touchpad?
• Screen alright?
• Can the E-350 play 1080p MKVs (maybe ~14Mbps bitrate max)?
• Does it get loud under load? Like, would it be annoying in a relatively quiet room?

It's mostly plastic. No "rollcage" like their other Thinkpads, but for the price I'm not complaining. It definitely feels solid though.

The keyboard is excellent. I can efficiently type on it. No need to get "used" to it, however, I do find myself wondering why the Fn and Ctrl keys are placed like they are.

Screen is Ok for what it is. I did have to make some color and contrast adjustments. I have an IPS screen on my desktop, so I may be a little more critical when comparing it the x120e. The matte screen completely makes up for the short-comings though.

Now, as for watching videos, I can't comment on the format you are interested in. All my stuff is mainly avi's in non hi-def formats the x120e has no problems with.

It's quiet to me even under load. I sometimes have to run my hand over the vent to see if there is airflow. However, my desktop system has like 20 fans in it and loud, so my opinion may be off a bit. It runs a lot cooler than my HP Touchsmart with the Turion. With the SSD drive, I can get up to 7.25 hrs of runtime on the 6-cell. It's super portable which was perfect for my last vacation.

Edit: Forgot to mention the touchpad. It works, but it's a bit short height-wise. There are two sets of buttons above and below the touchpad. Multi-touch is bit hit-and-miss, better with the latest touchpad drivers, so hopefully Lenovo can improve it a little more with subsequent ones.

FYI there is a BIOS setting on Thinkpads that allows you to swap these two keys.

Yep, I noticed. I'll leave it be for now. I'll get used ot it. Plus, I don't feel like popping off keys while the thing is so new. I have bad luck with keyboards. :D

Notable differences of Lenovo x120e vs HP dm1z, respectively:

Win7 Professional vs Win7 Home Premium
1 yr limited warranty vs Nothing
4gb ram vs 3gb ram
USB port that provides power to devices even when laptop is off VS regular USB
