Here is the scenario:
I use COX Cable to access the Internet and the speeds are generally decent, but something has changed.
When I was running under Win98 I did a regedit and changed my TCP receive window to 64k. After doing this and using the speedtest @ bandwitdhplace.com, I could consistently test out between 3-4.5Mbps. My DL speeds from fileplanet servers would also somewhat reflect this.
I just recently switched to Win2K and once again changed the value of the TCP receive window to accommodate my connection. Now the best I can consistently test out at is about 1.6 Mbps. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about "ONLY" getting a little better than T1 speeds, but I'm just curious as to where the rest of the bandwidth went. I have a strong gut feeling that the change is Win2K related and was wondering what settings I need to look at to get me back to where I was.
I understand that cable speeds will vary, even greatly at times, but both scenarios are based off of several tests over several days at different times of the day.
Any thoughts?
TIA
JR..
