Hi All

I'm looking for a new monitor.
I use my computer for 'office' and Internet only, so I need screen for text reading only and not for games, movies, photoshop and etc.

I prefer wide screen (16x9 or 16x10) in order to be able open two article in the same time (one .pdf file for reading and one MS Word for write).

Should I nevertheless buy 3x4?
Does the 'dot size' should be 0.294 mm or more?
Which Panel is better for me?
What Resolution I should look for? (lower is better?)

Which company and model you recommend?

My budget is 100 - 300 $

Thanks

Stick with the 16x9 or 10 if that layout works best for you
For dot size - smaller is better - more refined image because more dots per inch so to speak
For resolution - more is better - again provides a finer image even of letters and make sure you look at native resolutions. Most displays will provide options for alternates, but work best in their native resolution
As for companies - a lot of them make good monitors - Viewsonic and Dell (yes really Dell) are at the top of my list. But be careful - they both provide a wide variety of monitors in different classes for different purposes. But for your use you don't need the more expensive ones that are primarily orient to faithful displays of color.
You probably want a TN panel which is the cheapest but fine for your use. Primary drawback is that it does not have a wide viewing angle, but that is not an issue if you sit directly in front of the screen all the time.

I'd get 2 19" monitors for pure text work.

I'd not want a small 'dot size' as its just going to give you a head ache if your staring at tiny text all day.

Get two 19" monitors put them both in portrait mode and you're good to go.

Sounds like you need a setup like my wifes, she does translations. So one document in full screen on one monitor while working on the other one full screen.

She has a few other tricks that make both documents scroll down as she works on one and things like that.

She'd probably go three screens if she had the space and use the other for online dictionaries and stuff.

Unless you'll be in a bright environment I have to recommend a glossy screen. Text is much sharper with glossy than matte.
