Looking for Mobo running 8x SATA RAID 1+0

Hi,

Do you know of any Penryn-ready Mobo with onboard RAID using 8 x SATA ports that could run RAID 1+0? I want to use all 8 SATA ports for RAID 1+0.

There are many mobos out there with 8x SATA ports, but they have 2 different RAID controllers, thus cannot create RAID 1+0 using all 8 SATA ports.

Would you budget allow for a add-in RAID controller? This would greatly increase the number of motherboards you could use.

I don't believe that there exists yet a mobo chipset that supports 8 SATA ports in RAID. ICH9R only supports six ports. Perhaps ICH10R will support 8?

Unfortunately i belive VirtualLarry is right.

I realize those of us wanting much more SATA aren't common, but 6 SATA via Intel is simply not enough, & i've seen no manufacturer who ever offers more than an extra two via their own controller (which is usually actually JMicron's).

Hopefully future chipsets will indeed support more, & i really hope native eSATA becomes a standard, rather than being a rare feature...

Thanks for the info guys. I didn't realize there is currently no chipset that supports 8 drive SATA RAID.

Does anyone have RAID info on the upcoming 780i FTW mobo from EVGA (FTW has 8 SATA ports), 790i chipset or the X48 chipset?
