Alright guys, I actually did this this fall, but I guess thats irrelevant.
I'm running a chieftec/chenbro/antec/whatever clone case, with a barton 2500+ overclocked to 3200+ speeds (11x200), at a vcore of 1.69v on an Epox 8RDA+. Performance and prime95 are rock solid.
On to the questions;
Alright, According to my bios and Epox unified system diagnostics manager, I'm getting case temps of 24C/73F, Which seems to be quite good considering room temp is ranging from 69-70F. However, while well within acceptable levels, my cpu temps seem to be a bit high compared to these case temps, at 39-41C idle, and then 43-44C load. While these temps are still low, they seem a lot higher compared to case temps then most people's rigs, and I never really thought about this until now.
As for what I'm running for cooling, I have a thermalright slk-800 hs, with a YS Tech 80mm adjustable fan running at 3800RPM, here on newegg. The fan is blowing onto the heatsink right now.
For case cooling, I have 2 Vantec stealth 80mm fans, one blowing in from the bottom front of the case, one blowing out from the bottom back of the case.
Finally, I have a generic 80mm fan blowing air into the case from a side blowhole, the fan is blowing just a bit below the CPU, more towards my radeon 9700pro.
Any suggestions on how I could lower my cpu temps? by other people's rigs, I should be getting load in the uper 30's, I'd imagine. Also, I forgot to mention, I'm using artic silver 1 for my thermal compound, would a step up to say 5 or ceramique make a noticable difference? I'm not so much concerned with the couple of degrees as I am the fact that I'd like to pick up a fanbus and keep the fans running lower when possible, which I would imagine to be most of the time.
Thanks in advance!
