I was wondering if someone might be able to recommend a good graphics card. Everything I do is 2D...no games, but maybe some very minor 3D modeling stuff for fun. My primary concern is 2D visual quality.
I had my eye on the GIGABYTE Geforce 6600GT with the fanless heatpipe. I was wondering how big of a deal it is that it only supports OpenGL 1.5 and not 2.0 like some of the newer cards. My thought is that I don't want to buy a card that doesn't support windows vista.
There's also the GIGABYTE Geforce 7600GS which does support OpenGL 2.0, but it's heatpipe system is suppose to be less effective.
Essentially, I'm looking for the PCI-E card with lowest heat output but is still fast enough to go unnoticed in windows.
Would I be even better off with something like a Radeon X1300Pro? It supports OpenGL 2.0, has the new "silent pipe" design...my worry hear is performance.
