I've had good luck with Corsair...they're really just Seasonic. All the ones I've used have been extremely quiet and reliable.

anything lower? i dont need a 520 watt PSU, are there any weaker (lower cost) modular PSUs?

(i'm not compromising my system for a cheaper quality PSU, i'm aware of good/bad quality PSUs)

Uhh...Antec Earthwatts 380. That's pretty much all you'll need, really.

is that modular? if so that'd be great

It is not modular

No, it's not modular but I don't see why you would spend $80+ on a Corsair HX520 when you don't need that much power. Take a look at some Silverstone short cabled models if you can. IMO the Earthwatts doesn't have that many cables so you can pretty much stuff it all in 27 cubic inches of space (3x3x3).

Seasonic M12II-430 or Enermax Modu82+ 425W are the lowest wattage high quality modular PSUs I know of. Don't know what the prices of these are wherever you might live.

those are both in the $100-$140 range

by the way the NeoPower is the modular equivalent of the Earthwatts.

Ah crap, didn't think of that one. Sometimes you can get a 430W NeoHE for $50 which is a really good deal.

so at the end of the day, my "low-wattage" modular PSU list consists of: (in order of wattage)

Enermax82+ 425W
NeoHE 430W
Seasonic M12II 430W
Corsair 520HX

looks like i'll search for that NeoHE for $50... anyone know where they have that?
my next choice after that would be either the 520HX or look for those silverstone short cable PSUs

Regarding the NeoPower 430W: I found that price actually at a Fry's B&M and Fry's site no longer has those...but I did find a couple for around $65 which IMO is a bit too much to pay for a 430W:

The Silverstone with short cables is not modular and only comes in a 500W flavor but you should find it here:
