I usually use my headphones on my pc, but I'm considering buying a cheap set of speakers, perhaps 5.1. I also have an old stereo system, a Sony 100w mini stereo which no longer works. The speakers should work though, and I'm wondering what I would need to connect them to my PC, and whether or not it would be worth it to keep them over say a $40 logitech 5.1 set. Thanks.

If it's the receiver that is damaged for the sony set, you'd need a new amp or receiver to hook it up to your comptuer.

Even a basic 5.1 receiver is going to be significanly more than a basic 5.1 computer speaker set. If you're looking for true 5.1 and not "prologicII" etc., you're going to want to get computer speakers in this pricerange.

Go with the x-530s.
