Can someone please recommend me a good computer headset? It seems like no matter what I buy, it's just not LOUD enough. I am not deaf by any means, I am an average joe, but these things simply dont get as loud as my mps player does. As a comparison, I am using a $60 Sandisk Sansa Clip+ with $90 Klipsch earbuds.
I went through a number of cheapo headsets from Logitech, and it's obvious why sound sucked. So I got the Sennheiser PC 151 headset. (much better, and much, much clearer, but still NOT LOUD enough!) almost there though!
I started looking at some reviews and recommendations, and decided to try headphones instead of a headset. I bought Sennheiser HD 555s. Horrible product. Even though a lot of people love it, and so did the person I sold em to.
1)It bleeds sound like crazy. (I live with my parents so this is not acceptable) And even if I didn't, I'd still hate that. I did know these were "open design" but I didn't realize how much this sucks till I tried it.
2)It really doesn't sound all that much better than my Sennheiser PC 151. And the price difference between these products is quite significant.,
3)Using headphones with a PC just doesn't work for me. I hate switching between headphones and headset every time I need to use skype, play a game or listen to music.
I recently bought a cheapo Logitech headset and it is wonderful because I can listen and talk on Skype through it while outputting other sound through speakers, but the sound quality of this headset is very mediocre for anything outside of Skype.
I am wondering if I should be looking for USB or regular headphone jack headset... Can anyone shed some light on this? I bought a $150 HD OMEGA Claro sound card, and according to reviews it's one of the best out there and better than Sound blaster. But I just dont hear that. Seems to me it sounds just the same as my $25 Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. I think I fell some difference when listening through my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speakers, but maybe I am just telling myself that.
Should I just sell my sound cards and get a good USB headset? I heard USB completely bypasses a sound card and sounds just as good as the most expensive sound cards... Is that true?
If a sound card is still worth it, which headset would you recommend? I am ready to spend something around $100, maybe more but it must be worth every penny. and it must be LOUD. My Klipsch speakers are so damn loud, I never even dare to turn them half way up, but no headset I ever owned can even come close to matching that.
Which parameter I should be looking at for loudness when I buy a headset? Is it Db?
Thanks very much.
EDIT: Looks like my Sound Card is better than I thought. I went into driver options and switched the setting to headphones, raised the volume for both channels and raised the Analog Audio output to Digital Audio 192 KHz from 96KHz. wow... What a difference... now it feels like my brain is getting ripped off. Just the way I like it. Wonderful. (YEs I know it's not good for the hearing, and I rarely ever listen to anything this loud. I just want to know I can listen to stuff this loud when I want to) But just not clear and crisp enough. any better headsets out there? I am still using my Senn PC 151 which is falling apart...
P.S: Is there some kind of switch that would allow me to hook up my speakers AND headset to my soundcard at the same time? I know I probably cant output to both, but I just hate unplugging the headset when I want to use the speakers and wise versa every time. If I just use a cheapo y-cable will tat deteriorate the sound quality in any way?
