I'm looking for an LCD monitor for a Conroe system build. Max price is 350 USD, though I'm willing to go to about 380 if it's really worth it.

I'd use it mainly for gaming, though some Internet use and mabye photoshop and such. I was looking at the Samsung 204B, though it only has a 6-bit panel. Is it any good? I don't care what brand I get. Also, I'd like something 19-21". Widescreen isn't mandatory, I like either. I'd like a known good brand, please.

Is the ViewSonce VX2025WM any good?

The Samsung 204B is actually pretty disappointing in all categories (even response time and not to mention viewing angles).

The ViewSonic VX2025WM is great since you won't be able to afford the Samsung 215TW. Good contrast, true 8-bit color with no dithering algorithms, and a great response time. A true winner for the 20.1" value segment.

I believe it's a problem with NVIDIA cards and their picky EDID. DVI Recover may fix it: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1040780

I don't think everybody has this problem though. How could they be selling them in their right mind? It just doesn't make sense. And it's never been mentioned in any of the reviews done on it AFAIK.

I sell this monitor Samsung 204B and I seemed it perform extremely good. Text is clear and while playing game is amazing. The Viewsonic 2025 is good too but I don't like the stand.

I'm going to be getting the VX2025 soon too. Not too big of an upgrade for me (19in to 20.1in) but I will be going from 5:4 to 16:10 widescreen which is why I'm really going. Can't wait.

The DVI problem isn't affecting a lot of people (after all, how could they sell a monitor if all were defective)
Now I THOUGHT that it only affected ATI people, not Nvidia people, is it backwards or does it affect everyone?

I've got a 204B right now...its decent...but before now, I've never seen tearing before (not even on my 17" Sony LCD) and now i get a horrible case of it...I'll prob take this back tomorrow for a Viewsonic VX2025 unless something changes...just as same cost wise...not to mention the native res of the 204 is 1600x1200...which my 7800GT can't do on new games...

I'm not sure what the consensus of the Dell 2007FPW is but I use it to display my htpc/backup gamer. Got it last week and so far it is very cool. Picture is crisp and the resolution is outstanding. 1680x1050. The stand is substantial and adjustable. It's probably heavier than the monitor. The panel is very discreet. A small black frame, a couple of dim green lights, and 5 small buttons are all that appear besides the logo. I currently have it all the way down but it will adjust to probably 5-6" (distance from the surface to the bottom of the panel.

Last week, it was on sale for as little as $344. I got it for $367. Regular price is over $400 but they run specials all the time.
