Looking for Larger Cell

Hey All:

Currently have an S3 on Verizon and am thinking of purchasing the Note 3 as I really like the extra screen real estate.

Before purchasing the phone, however, I'm wondering if there are any other large form factor phones I should consider. I've already looked at the Sony Xperia Z and HTC One Max but found the former *too* large while I'm concerned that the latter is slightly inferior in a few different areas.

As such, I was hoping you all might be able to address two questions I have:

1) Do you think my assessment of the One Max is correct or should I seriously consider that instead of the Note 3?

2) Are there any other large form-factor phones, sold by Verizon, that I should be considering?

Non-Note phablets are compromised - too big and heavy, and without multi window you lose a lot of use from the real estate.

If you're the type who uses their phone for a lot of multimedia purposes, the One Max with BoomSound speakers would be my recommendation. Yes, the phone uses an older processor and has less RAM, but it is by no means a slouch.

Another happy Note 3 owner. For me, nearly perfect phone.

I like the way it looks, the way it feels holding it. I hate to say it, but my Note 2 now seems a bit primitive in comparison; clearly it was from the last days of Samsung's dark "we're afraid of getting sued!" period.

Speed is good, feature set is good, pen is improved and more useful than before (I've really started to depend on the pen input more than I thought I would).

The screen is amazing. And yep, I was one crowing about how I don't see the need for a 1080p screen on a device, how that might be overkill... Now I've seen the light and am singing a different tune. It's yet another thing that will spoil me never to want lesser.


Anyway... highly recommend the Note 3.

Yep. It made me want to sell my s4. And I love my s4 but my note 3 is so much better.

LG G2 is another option, not quite at Note 3 size but 5.2" 1920x1080 screen isn't exactly small either, large battery like the note 3, Snapdragon 800, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal, etc etc.

But the note 3 is a great option too!

Note 3 owner, I like it, but, the Verizon version has a locked bootloader, and I'm not thrilled with the antenna/radio on the Verizon variant

It's a good phone with great battery life but too large and too heavy IMO as a primary smartphone - it's closer to the size of the Mega 6.3 than the Note 3.

Depends on your person. I'm 6'4" with massive hands. The Max wouldn't be a problem for me. It's definitely a niche of a niche phone though. Either way, the OP will end up with a great phone.

I've been enjoying my SG Mega 6.3 for the last two months...
