I'm in need of a new desk with plenty of surface area. I'd prefer an L-shaped one and it will be holding a laptop and dock, printer, two widescreen monitors, and a few speakers at least. I'm disappointed by the limited space available with desks like these because I don't want to spend the money on the extra side thing with drawers and the "return" part of the desk is very narrow (about 20" deep). The Galant line from IKEA is the closest I've seen to what I want, but I'm not a huge fan of the styling, metal legs, etc. Are there other L-shaped options that are relatively spacious for no more than $500 or so?

I had one of those Z-Line desks at first... it's a decent budget desk, but it's nothing to rave over.

As for that Bush desk, I'm not a huge fan of that style, because you don't get the open-ended aspect that makes a L-Desk really nice. This looks like an upgraded model of the desk that I currently own:

Mine is this model, which as you can tell by their choice in decorations... it's probably due for an update

The price on the newer version also seems a lot better. I paid $440 (and that was cheap for a full-wood L-Desk at Staples) You'd be paying about $100 less. I only have two complaints about the desk. The wood "finish" tends to chip a bit and frankly is really cheap. Also, I don't like the lack of support in the middle of the desk... you can feel it bow a little if you put weight on it, and I've got two 27" monitors on my desk .

I am looking for a new desk as well. I like the Chadwick series desk at staples.

We paid $99 for a table at Costco. No shelves or drawers in it, but it has a separate keyboard pull out shelf that's very wide, and the top of the desk is wide enough for my Dell 24" monitor as well as a HD cable box on one side and a xbox360 on the other side. I guess you could probably buy two of them if you wanted to get an L-shape. We were looking for something in the interim while the desk is in a smaller space before we eventually get a house with a dedicated office in it.

I have this IKEA Galant desk and I love it. It has held up well for going on four years now. It's certainly not the nicest desk ever made, but it fits my needs right now.
