Hi all,
Looking for any ideas anyone has for my situation.
Every winter we go to a weekend at a camp. The attendees range from age 5 to age 83 and the number of them could range from 30 - 50 people. We always have an hour or so after dinner one night where we do group games and I'm looking for suggestions.
The games must be easy enough to understand that they can be explained within a couple minutes.
The games can't require any elaborate setups. Everything must be able to be hand made or printed out. Each game should be able to be completed in 5-10 minutes.
Some games could be a free for all among the entire group. Some could be broken into teams and then do something team vs team (teambuilding style). Some could be broken into teams and then each teams plays a game among themselves.
For example, this year we did:
1) Teambuilding - Got into teams of 6. Each team got a stretchy band with 6 strings coming off it. One person grabbed each string and you had to work together to stretch the band around a cup by pulling on the strings. Then had to lift the cup, pour the contents into another cup, drop the first cup, pick up the second and deliver it to a table. This was one team against team to see who could do it fastest.
2) Team tic-tac-toe (TTT). Played within each group. Same groups of 6 but each group got into two lines of 3. Each person in each line had a red or white token. Each group had a table with a TTT board on it. First person from each line runs to the table and puts down a token and runs back. Second and third person do the same. Starting the second time through each person can move one of their own tokens to a different spot. Soon as someone gets three in a row, they win.
3) Winking game. Played within each group. A deck of cards were put down on the table face up. Another deck was dealt out to the players. Each player for a token. You had to put your token on a card on the table that did NOT match a card in your hand. Then, whoever DID have the card you put your token on had to wink at you to let them know they had your card. When the play came back around to you you had to guess who your partner was and then move your token again. However, if someone saw someone else wink at someone, they could say GOTCHA and say who they thought were partners to get 2 points.
As you can see, each of these games is very simple and can be done with a wide range of people. They don't require much in the line of props other than a deck of cards or something simple to make. We try to have different games every year so I'm just starting early to find some cool ideas we can use for next year.
If anyone has any favorite games like this that you've played before, let me know.
Thanks!
