I used to have the klipsch promedia 5.1's, and though they sounded awesome, they just werent for me. I dont sit and watch movies at my pc.

Now I am looking for a decent home theater system for the same price range, less than $500

So far, I am looking through the home theater in a box options, (I know they suck compared to the klipsch or putting my own system together, but hey, im on a budget and a schedule)

first off, any thoughts on this system:

(I'd never buy from them, theyre too expensive - but they have in depth info and photos)

Basically, I'd like the most powerful system i can get for the money. I thought about sony because I like the seperate receiver and dvd, but I have heard their systems arent that great. I would like MP3 capability if possible, and a dvd changer would also be nice.

Finally, a question about putting together my own system - do you have to match the watts on the receiver to the watts of each speaker, or exactly how does that work? I am a neophyte when it comes to home audio. ;)

umm.. energy has a 500 speaker package if i recall, small, but excellent reviews... find the website through google or something. other than that, i would consider paradigm. you can also check out ubid.com and see what they have.

This Kenwood system sounds pretty good for the money. It can be had for around $350 if you have a Kenwood outlet center near you.
