I'm not sure what my price range is but I don't want to spend to much more then I have to but i really do want it to be high quality.

I was thinking about the Nikon D5300 which is $370 for body only and buying a additional wide angle lens but I hear that this camera have bad autofocus.

I was also considering the Canon G20 camcorder but I'm not sure that has a wide angle lens.

Moved from OT.

That new Sony looks pretty sweet. The RX0 II. No idea if it hits all the marks for a vlogger as I do not vlog. Seems like it does though. 😀

Unfortunately it doesn't have continuous auto-focus so it's not so great -- yet. Sony might release a firmware update for that feature, but who knows.

Edit: OP didn't say if this is on the go or talking head, staying still. Might work for OP w/out continuous autofocus.

I recently bought the Canon hf r800 camcorder. High quality is subjective, but for it's price/class I find it was a good deal. I'd say it's a bit better quality than a phone, but not quite as good as DSLR, but DSLRs have their own drawbacks for video, such as lack of auto focus, and the time limit and no flip up screen to make sure you're actually in the picture. When I first started I got burned many times where I didn't realize I went over the 10 minute limit and it was no longer recording, or where I was not actually in frame property because I could not see. I also found that the 10 minute limit is somewhat cumulative. Even if you stop it and start a new recording, the limit eventually is only a few minutes until you switch the SD card.

As for wide angle the Canon one is not quite wide enough on it's own for vlogging, but you can get a lens for it, I recently bought one.

Not to plug my channel but if you want to see sample footage (without the lens add on, I did not make any video with it yet) you can check it out here:

Most of the newer videos are shot with it. Latest 2 are probably the best samples. Or the one that says I got a new camera has various sample footage too.

Canon M50 APS-C with the EF-M 15-45mm kit lens. I think Best Buy has it for $650.00. Lots of reviews out there on the setup for vlogging and can take good pictures too. I actually have one myself, but I'm not going to be taking videos. Mainly got it for getting back into photography.

that Nikon or the canon g20 is heavy and bulky!
check out the Canon m50 or something even smaller like the canon m6, or the newer version canon m6 mark 2 coming out later this month.
i am selling my canon m6 with the flat 22mm for ultra portability for $500 in the For Sale forum if you are interested. if you want something even wider, you can swap out the lense and buy just the body for $350.

That M50 really does look nice... great to see DSLRs starting to put more effort into the video mode now. The flip screen is nice too. That is my primary turn off to using A DSLR for vlogging but looks like some address that.

Been using my Canon Vixia but more I use it the more I realize the quality is kinda meh. Might upgrade later. I can probably use it as secondary camera for time lapse or something.
