What do you guys recommend. I deffinitly want a device with both RJ-11 and RJ-45 capabilities on it for when I am at school and not. Want good lightening protection. Battery backup would be nice if I am not talking a whole lot more. Never costs much more to go first class. Not wanting to spend a fortune on this...but thought it would be a good investment. What do you guys recommend I go with?

I like the APC SurgeStations. Excellent APC quality, with a neat gimmick - the on/off switch is frontside-mounted so that it becomes a foot operated switch. Nice touch if you put your surge device at floor level, no bending down to turn it on or off.

I believe that APC will come with a waranty up to $1500 or so if any of your equipment gets damaged in a storm or something. I'll see if I can get a url for that.

I read the APC policy too and I can tell you from experience that they don't use it most of the time. I have never had the slightest problem with APC. I would highly reccommend the APC Back-UPS Pro line. I did however have a bad (VERY BAD) experience with Tripp-Lite. Stay away from them.
