Looking for good statbar-like system info program

I'd like something like statbar or winbar, but something that is actually still being developed and not abandoned. I loved statbar, but there are several things it can't do. Winbar feature set looked perfect, but it's buggy. I want something that can display all the usual system information, plus a quicklauncher, google search, yada yada. And I'd like it free!

Any ideas?
 
i tried sysmetrix, but i couldnt:

dock it at the top permanantly where other windows did not intrude on it's space,

and there doesn't appear to be a way to use it as a quicklauncher like statbar...

suggestions please? I'll take suggestions for programs that aren't free.
