Looking for good slideshow software (doesn't have to be free)

I'm currently using something called PicturestoExe, which is okay except it only gives you the choice to create a slideshow in a fixed Window or Fullscreen - no resizable window option unless you create an avi video file which takes a really long time. The normal slideshow creation never takes more than a minute or so, which is what I prefer.

Basically what I need is something that can QUICKLY create custom slideshows WITH music (.mp3s, .wav, etc.) and basic effects (fade, most importantly) and lets me watch it in a resizable window.
Running XPPro, btw.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated -- thanks in advance:)

There's a free one here that I used several years ago, although now I just use the one built into Windows XP.

You might see if Slide Projector by the great Paul Lutus works for you:

Another free option is the

OpenOffice Impress

application, which is like MS Powerpoint only is free.
With it also you can set up transition effects, etc. for your slideshow.

As far as I know, in order to get Impress you have to download and install the entire OpenOffice bundle, which also includes some other applications such as Calc (like Excel), Write (like Word), and more.

Both Slide Projector and Impress are free.
