Looking for good PHP solution for user inactive web site

I just installed phpBB2 yesterday, I really like the feel of it. I'm not a programmer though, so any modding I would do would be either real basic, or just installing MODS I've downloaded. What I'm looking to make is a chat site, but one that centers more around the users and the profiles. As opposed to fourms and messages. I dug up every phpBB mod I could get my hands on, and nothing seems to flex the direction I'm going.

Something like a dating site, where each users profile can have pic(s), more robust info (race, age, sex etc...) and also where they can write about themselves, and others can tag them. And it got me thinking that maybe phpBB2 isn't the best solution for this, I'm not able to code and I dont see any mods in development that would do this.

Any one have any ideas of other PHP solutions? I was looking at phpNUKE, Invision & XOOPS! they all seemed to revolve around the fourms. I wouldn't be above paying for custom mods, as long as it didn't run a ton of cash. My site is going to be for fun only, not to make money.

help?
thanks 🙂

They all revolve around forums because... that's what they are. Dunno about anything specific, but try poking around freshmeat.net and hotscripts.com.

Thanks man I'll check those out, and I know anything I use will have a fourm program as the frontend, but I want to focus less on that then any other aspect of the setup. So I'm stuck in trying to figure out the best way to pull this off 🙂
