Looking for good PC Co-Op Game

I have family coming over and have 2 gaming pc's. I was just wondering what are some of the top Co-Op games out. RTS and or FPS, Either or.

I don't have access to Broadband (I don't even live in the boonies..US and its broadband is ridiculous!) so anything not local is out of the question.

TY

Games that I have already played Co-Op.....
-Operation Flashpoint
-Rise of Nation (Me and my cousin where addicted for a long time)
-Company of Heroes
-Left for dead (gets repetitive after awhile)
-Borderlands
-Most Tom Clancy Games
-Civ 4 and 5

Just looking for something different....Maybe a game I didn't think had Co-Op. Also any mods for games that add Co-Op (Good mods not something that was thrown together.) I want to try to stay away from Steam because most games have to go through the internet.

While not an RTS or FPS, this is pretty much amazing in coop. The closest I can peg it down is an action RPG like Diablo, except it's almost pure mix and match spellcasting, with horrific amounts of accidental friendly fire. It's hilarious.

It's still slightly buggy. Over 6-8 hours of playtime in online coop, I've had one CTD, and a few issues (people turning invisible, people getting stuck, etc) that required a restart/rehost. Also, controls take some getting used to, and you need to experiment to figure out some of the basic spells.

But heck, you can currently get a four-pack for 15$, I think. Or, you can get 2 of the complete pack with the new Vietnam expansion for 16$.

Still, casting thunderbolt like mad only to realize that you've just turned all 3 of your buddies into piles of bloody giblets is totally worth it.

Disclaimer: I haven't tried this without a net connection, so I can't verify that it works over LAN. However, the online connection mechanism has a LAN filter, so I assume that it supports it. I'm kind of assuming that even if you don't have net locally, you can download games somewhere?

Supreme Commander/Forged Alliance (please note NOT Sup Com 2!) it has LAN play it's wonderfully complicated and real fun to put CPU at max difficulty and try to take it down with a friend.

Local Co-Op, but Trine is mad fun and very group friendly. I find it best played with 360 controllers, but I'm sure it's fine without. It's in the Humble Bundle right now, so you can get it for what you want to pay.

Edit, see you only want local. It can be bought retail also. But the Humble Bundle is the way to go if you have any extra bandwidth.

Left 4 dead 1
Left 4 Dead 2
Borderlands

If you have a couple of friends, Borderlands is probably more "fun" then the left 4 dead series. My son and I logged about 20 hours over a weekend playing borderlands co-op, it was a blast.

If you are looking at getting left 4 dead, after portal 2 is released, all of the original left 4 dead maps are going to be released for left 4 dead 2. So I would not worry about getting the original left 4 dead.
