I bet most of you hate it...
I'm talking the likes of Puccini (too many to name), Bizet (carmen obviously) , Sibelius (karelia is awesome) and such...stuff were it gets nitty and gritty and the orchestra is going at it just as hard as the tenors/ladies are going at it
but I am looking for specific pieces...perhaps by non-mainstream composers. Perhaps some hidden gems that you know of.
Starting with some Berlioz now...
